A medical device company saw a 5,100% rally after a two-word app recommendation by Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO tweeted “Use Signal” on Jan. 7, apparently referring to the encrypted messaging service. But a case of mistaken identity saw shares in Texas-based Signal Advance surge more than sixfold by the end of that day, as investors apparently mistook the post as a tip from the world’s richest person. The rally continued for three trading days. It's not the first misunderstanding based on a ticker mixup. The popularity of Zoom (the video-conferencing company) periodically led to brief surges in shares of Zoom Technologies (a Beijing-based maker of mobile phone components). Building 12 startups in 12 months for 2021

Hey guys, I'm doing this challenge made famous by Peter Levels a fews ago, where I have to build a startup every month for 2021. I guess startup is probably an exaggeration, it will most likely be many prototypes but I'm super excited to build lots of ideas. I'm a programmer by day but might also try building some physical products although I have very little experience. If you have any suggestions on Physical things to build I would love to hear them! If you want to follow along, here's the [Intro video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IT32d6aoSfc) and this is [what I'm building in January](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rc-ebTvxq3o). Isaac

Who's winning the trade war? The answer: China. In 2016, Trump vowed to very quickly “start reversing” the U.S. goods trade deficit with China. However, the gap has increased since then, hitting $287 billion in the 11 months to November last year. Ahead of the anniversary of the phase one trade deal, Bloomberg looks at the ways Xi Jinping got an edge over Donald Trump. Read in full at the link in bio.

WhatsApp has begun alerting its 2 billion users of an update to its privacy policy — and if they want to keep using the popular messaging app, they have to accept it. The change forces users to agree to data collected in WhatsApp being shared across Facebook’s broader network, including Instagram. While Facebook says the change is necessary to help it better integrate its products, the new privacy rules have sparked an exodus by many users and an outcry among tech experts and privacy advocates.
